Papa and Grandma M Visited!

We took Gus to Deanna Rose Farm again, this time with Papa and Grandma. The older he gets the more and more he enjoys it there. Gus was overall fine with the goats, his usual favorite, but the little goats seemed to have gotten a bit older (and bigger) since the last time we saw them. Gus did get knocked over when two goats wanted the food he had in his hand, but he got right back up again.

Gus the caterpillar.

Feeding the goats. Surprisingly, Gus wasn't afraid of them touching his fingers when he fed them. Something about having the fence between him and the hungry little guys made Gus more confident.

Gus loves kettle corn! Papa bought some for Gus, here they are sharing a few pieces.

Naughty little Gus (just kidding!).

After the farm we went to Oklahoma Joe's BBQ for lunch. Men's Health Magazine ranked it in their June issue as one of the 13 places in the world to eat before you die. Gus's first time there and he loved it. I was going to share my smoked turkey with him, but he wanted daddy's burnt ends. Yummy!

Right before they left, Gus got in a picture with Grandma and Papa. Notice his adorable new Elmo pajamas (thanks guys- I love them!).

Thanks for coming to visit, we love you!

Football!

Last night Gus was dancing around to his music when he realized that football was on the TV. You can see his excitement in this clip. When we turn the TV to baseball, he runs to it and says "baseball," just like when football is on, and he says, "football." We are working on basketball and golf ball now that he is starting to differentiate between the different types of "balls." He loves sports- just like his daddy.

Crazy Hair Days

Telling mommy a story Tuesday night.

So I wanted to post some pictures of Gus's hair... Any ideas on what we can do with this mullet/mohawk/bald in front situation we have going on? I think we are going to buzz it in a few weeks, so that it all starts growing in even and consistently.

What started out as a tantrum, quickly became very silly!

Animal noises.

Hangin Out Around the House

Look at that spikey hair!

Say cheeeeeessssseeee!

Sneaking into the cupboards...

And getting caught by mommy....

Yesterday Gus started saying 'cracker,' today it was 'water.' He surprises me every day by how much he learns. My little sponge.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Gus enjoying a little snack of raisins. We have been working hard at having him use plates, bowls and utensils when eating. As you can see, we still have some progress to make.

On Saturday night, Josh and I went to the pre-season Chiefs vs. Texans game. Gus, although he wore his KC gear, went to the sitters instead. This turned out to be a great decision, as it rained on us most of the game. Gus would not have enjoyed it and we would of had to leave very early.

Our seats were in the end-zone, 17th row; very nice seats. You can see the clouds starting to roll in in the picture above. Once it started to rain heavy, we ended up moving back so we were no longer sitting in the rain. Luckily we had some friends a few rows back who had empty (covered) seats beside them. What is sad is that we had rain coats and an umbrella in the car, but had decided at last minute not to bring them in.
Well, back to work this week for me. Busy busy busy, but it will be nice to get back into the swing of things. Josh and I will both be juggling watching Gus and our work schedules this week and next, as Gus won't start full-time daycare until September- it's weeks like these upcoming two when we really wish we lived closer to family.

Winks and Meatballs

Last night we had spaghetti and meatballs. Gus loves to suck in the pasta- but oh boy does he get messy!

When we pray before we eat, Gus always laughs and claps. During prayer, daddy winked at Gus, so all through the meal Gus kept trying to wink! Here he is trying to wink at daddy.

Such a ham!

As you can see, about mid-meal, Gus got winking down pretty good! He is so cute. And sorry about posting all 5 pictures from our meal- I had such a hard time narrowing down which ones to post :)

Another Iowa Weekend

My cousin Laura was married on Saturday in Jefferson, IA. This is her daughter, and flower girl, Dakota. She and Gus was pretty good buddies at the reception!

Gus loved the gift bag he got full of toys!

Here is Gus with Steph, our newest cousin-in-law (posts from her wedding to my cousin Jason are on here from earlier this summer).

Oh- and happy birthday to Kamden! It was nice to see you and your parents, and grandparents, on Saturday morning. Hope your party was fun!

This was our last trip to Iowa for awhile, unless we decide to go home for Labor Day. It will be nice NOT to travel for a few weekends. This is also my last week off before I start teaching my SEVEN classes this fall- Yikes! Gus starts full-time daycare in September, although he still will only be there 5-6 hours each day.

This morning we met with our local Parents as Teachers representative. She came to our home to enroll us with PAT. I am very excited. Gus has his first real meeting with her next month, so I will be interested to see all the fun things we learn from her.

Hellooooo... Is anyone theeeere???

In this and the other three videos I posted today it is evident that Gus enjoys the use of his voice, in both sounds and words. Here he is talking into his bucket.

Ball Ball Ball

Gus loves to say, "ball." Anything round, from apples to baseballs to the red round cement parking medians at Target, are all balls.

Hot Hot Hot

Gus loves to say "Hot" when he touches things that are warm or hot, or even cold for that matter (which is funny when he licks ice and says "hot!"). Although the oven is turned off, he still touches it and says "hot hot hot," and as you can see, he is a little dramatic. Wonder where he gets that?

Vrooom!

Vroom Vroom! Gus loves to make "reving" noises when he plays with his cars. This is him this morning having a blast. Although it does sound a little like growling, it is what he means. He learned it in Ventura at Nama and Papa M's house this summer when he stayed with them for a few days, as they have a toy car that makes similar noises.

Five Year Anniversary

Can you believe it? Today is our five year wedding anniversary. Five years ago today we, and 33 of our closest friends and family, were in Jamaica. Ahhhhhh.... maybe we'll have a ten year anniversary renunion- anyone up for that????

Our Iowa Vacation

Avery and Kacy out on the pontoon. They are really good buddies!

Trish and Andi tubing. I tubed with Kacy. I hadn't tubed in years, and it was surprisingly fun!

Rian, Avery, Kacy and Andi on McIntosh beach on Clear Lake. They collected about 200 rocks which kept them entertained for a few hours.

Us on the pontoon.

Gus in Papa D's new 'Vette. Very cool.

Cade, Gus and Andi playing in their band.

Gus was in charge of playing the maracas.

Gus taking a bath at Nama and Papa M's. Daddy made him a bath filled with so many bubbles! Gus loved it.

Andi, Kacy and Gus.

Gus and his favorite food: "naaana"

Nama P making monkey bread with Andi, Kacy and Gus. The girls had a blast tearing the dough into little balls and then covering them with brown sugar.

Parker and Gus in North Liberty at Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Brandon's home. Parker is not quite ready to hold his own against Gus, who loved to try to touch Parker's face.

Parker is getting so old! He is adorable.
