Easter, Birthdays, and Check Ups

I'm turning into one of 'those' bloggers... Every day I say to myself, "Traci, you need to blog. You need to blog. You need to blog..." but I swear there is not enough time in the day! I work full time, have the three young kiddos from 1 pm on, clean the house, make meals, exercise, grade papers, Dr's. appointments, check my emails, play a game or two of Words With Friends, and I'm shot. Most nights I am hitting the sheets at 11 pm and have no energy to blog, knowing I have to get up at 6:15 am and start the grind all over again.

Okay, okay, enough complaining. I know all of you have very busy lives too, but if you know me well, you know I like to complain about everything and anything. The one thing that keeps me sane, well actually there are three of them, are the kids (aside from my loving husband of course). Although they contribute to I'd say about 70% of my insanity, they are the most amazing kiddos a mommy could ask for.

My friend Amy and I went out with a few other gals and had a belated birthday drink, hence the sombrero. Amy runs and recently asked me to run in a 5K with her. We enjoy YMCA classes and we walk together when we can, but a 5K is a big deal for me, someone who until recently didn't think they liked to run. Well, we registered for the Kansas Heart & Sole event, and on May 4th I will be running my first 5K. I am training myself now, and I have run about 3 1/2 miles twice this past week, so I know I can do it. And, it surprisingly, feels awesome. I didn't know I could push my body as hard as I have; it's always fun to do something you never thought you could do.

We have also had Easter since I posted last. I didn't get pics of all the kids, but Wally sure loved what the Easter bunny brought him! He was such a cutie, and boy does he like Peeps!

Josh and the kids threw a birthday party for me. We pulled Wally's highchair up to the island and he shimmied up to the countertop put his chubby little sausage elbows under him, clasped his hands together, and couldn't stop looking at the cupcakes with a huge grin. It was adorable. My favorite smiles from him are the ones from behind his paci. He does this little thing where he moves it off to one side so you can see his smile. Precious.

My flowers.

My gifts from the older two.

Finally digging into the cake.

Gus started baseball with Olathe Youth Baseball. Our neighbor is an assistant coach and we were able to get Gus on his team. Gus is so funny, with his batting gloves, cleats, baseball pants. He had his first practice last week on a real field and he did a good job. I was very proud of him. Devastated by the reminder of how old he is getting, but proud indeed.

The other night we took the kids to a self serve yogurt shop near our house. They loved making their own bowls of whatever flavor or toppings they wanted. It was a lot of fun.

Hazel is getting so old. She turns 3 on Saturday, so she had her well check visit last Friday. She weighs more than I did at my 5 year appointment! I weighed 34.8 pounds, and she weighs 35! She is in the 90% for weight. She is 37 inches, or the 50% for height. She is a very solid girl, and so athletic. She can keep up with Gus any day. She is such a chatterbox lately too. Sings, plays, talks, talks, did I say talks? all the time.

Wally went to his 15 month check up the same day. He had to have to shots, but was so brave. He weighed almost 25 pounds (76%) and was 30 1/2 in (50%) in height. His head is 19 in, which is in the 90%. He can talk a little, uh-oh, hi, Gus, mama, dada, shakes his head no. He points at what he wants. He climbs like a little monkey, eats about anything you put in front of him, and sleeps immediately when you lay him down. Still at 2 naps a day. Josh loves how he is flipping me off in this picture. They learn young I guess :)

Hazel has been home sick 2 days this week with an ear infection. She had a temp of about 102 for 3-4 days so I took her in yesterday and she has another ear infection. This is her 3rd one in 4 months. She is pretty tough though. Right before I took this pic her temp was nearly 102. She dressed her self. She called herself a "Bad Guy Princess". Gus was the bad guy pirate, and he had his Halloween costume from 2 years ago on. They play very well together.

I am growing my own outdoor plants this year. Gus is helping me and he loves checking it each morning to see how much they have grown. We did landscaping- laid over 50 bags of mulch- over the weekend, so I can't wait for the plants to grow a little bigger so I can place them. We are already ready for spring. In fact the kids wooden swing set, well hundreds of pieces of it anyway, is being delivered this afternoon. Sunny weather hurry, I am tired of rain!

Here is a random of Walter from two days ago. In his favorite place, my shower, doing his favorite thing, tearing through laundry.

Wally is definitely a daddy's boy. Josh got home from work the other night and walked in behind me when I was trying to take a pic of Wally rocking alone in his chair. From the time I pushed the button to the 2 second delay of when the camera actually took the photo, Wally moved to this position and I was able to capture the happiest-baby-boy-when-he-sees-daddy grin. I hardly ever get this reaction but all Josh has to do is hit the garage door button and Wally is instantly excited. I'm jealous, but love it.

Hazel's birthday is this weekend so I hope to get more pics and post them soon. We are having her professional pics taken on Saturday so I will hopefully have those back soon and out to some of you with Thank You's.

See? Now that post only took 44 minutes- although I haven't proofread yet- not too bad I guess. Love and miss you all!
